Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI) Foundation, a non-profit organization was established to promote leadership development and strategic thinking as well as to channel donations to charitable causes and scholarship assistance, established in September 1993.
ASLI’s vision is to create a better society. ASLI’s programmes are customer-focused, well-researched, ethical and value-for-money.One of the driving forces behind ASLI’s success is the strong commitment to our core values: a passion for excellence, corporate social responsibility, customer focus and an unwavering commitment to ethics and integrity.
Centre for Public Policy Studies (CPPS) under ASLI is an independent and non-partisan public policy institute that aims at fostering open-minded dialogue, enlightened leadership and better governance. Centre for Public Policy Studies published a report in February 2006 entitled “Proposals for the Ninth Malaysia Plan”, which comprises five research papers, which are listed as follows:
* Towards a More Representative and World Class Malaysian Civil Service
* Corporate Equity Distribution: Past Trends and Future Policy
* Achieving Higher Performance in Tertiary Education
* Ensuring Effective Targeting of Ethnic Minorities: The Case of Low Income Malaysian Indians
* Towards Equity for Bumiputera Minorities: The Case of the Penan
This study was undertaken by a multi-racial group of scholars and consultants as part of work in connection with the Ninth Malaysia Plan.

While you are there, why not check out the corporate profile:

There is also an Inernational Advisory Council.
Now with such a strong corporate profile with a set of world class brains, and having released the complete report published in February 2006 and having many other research for the government, thus has this news have any credibility:
“Mirzan had said that on re-examining the methodology and conclusions of the report, Asli had concluded that there were shortcomings in assumption and calculation that led to conclusions that cannot be justified. ” Star 11.10.2006
This is exactly why good scholars leave and institutes and universities is deprived of the ever wanted intelligence. Why would anybody wonder why all our 3 main universities especially UM have fallen from its grace — when politics decides to put their dirty tricks into education. My say — Leave education, health and law out of politics.
When such political remarks and decisions are made, the credibility of the scholars and the institutions they come from is lost. Would such strong institution and world known scholars publish a national report without in depth study, review and peer comments and review especially when it pertains issues considered sensitive.
That leads to third issue of government credibility — none — but this is not new because I believe it started from the previous government which the present one is having difficulty reversing!!
