Whether it is side to side or back to back, I suppose this coral banded shrimps were posing for me as I snapped my camera. I probably blinded them temporarily.

A little info about this beautiful creatures:

Scientific Name
: Stenopus hispidus

Average Size: To about 4″ in length.

Other Common Names: Banded Coral Shrimp, Banded Cleaner Shrimp, Banded Boxer Shrimp, Barber Pole Shrimp

Identification
: Long, white antennae with red or violet and white striped body and legs.

Life span
: 2 - 3 years, maybe longer

Characteristics: Stenopus hispidus gets along well with most fish and invertebrates (see exceptions, below) in an aquarium. However, triggerfish and many eels will dine on Coral Banded Shrimp when given the opportunity. This shrimp will actively clean fish, when presented with parasites.

Diet
: Stenopus hispidus is a scavenger by nature and will take most meaty foods. Will readily devour Polychaete Worms when they are present.

Aquarium Suitability: Is aggressive towards other shrimp and crustaceans. It also preys on worms, snails and small hermit crabs. Being a nocturnal animal, the Coral Banded Shrimp greatly prefers the protection of a cave or overhang during the day.

Photo Hunters : Creative

Well, as I get more engrossed in photography, I realise that nature is full of subjects to shoot and it is of how creative one is to compose a shot that brings that nature alive. Then there are those who are skillful in their hands and are able to do something creative - a work of art.

During a recent trip to Bali, we were taken to many places among which was a place filled with locally made wood carvings. These are some of the creative works.

My nephew Sherman looking at this carved horse with awe.

And admiring the dolphins too!

and the ducks too.

But Bali had lots to offer which I would soon blog about, my G7 canon had its own story to tell.

One main creative idea that struck me was how one adapts a sling from a child’s play (the catapult) to a nerve wrenching jaw dropping eyeballs rolling adrenaline filled fun game — the Bali Slingshot - where one sits in an open circular structure which spins in its axis and is catapult straight upwards to the dark sky at nerve wrecking speed.

There are more to share especially when one has just arrived from a such a creative island, Bali, but then I will not be able to blog about it.

Photo Hunters : Fake

Now this again is difficult. Looking through the dictionary, it meant to make something specious, deceptive, or fraudulent or even to conceal the defects of or make appear more attractive, interesting, valuable.

Now, in clinical practice, we have a condition called pseudoaneurysm. Well, pseudo means almost like fake in the sense, “not actually but having the appearance of” something. In this case, it involves a drug addict who was shooting drugs into his blood vessels. This time, he got it done wrongly and developed a femoral pseudoaneurysm - swelling arising from the femoral artery - a major blood vessel that supplies blood to the leg. If it ruptures, he could bleed to death. So, we took him in for surgery, where we ligated his vessel above the swelling and debrided all the dead infected tissue.

Like a chameleon, changing its colours to fit its surrounding so as to deceive its predators,

Many sea or marine life do the same. Camouflage is very important for this animals as otherwise they would find it difficult to survive that is to hunt or be hunted.

It was on this huge sea fan, that this little creature below was found.

Then again, these photos I received on my email - are they real or fake?

After missing out on two themes, Hair and Shiny, as I was away on my dive trips, I decided to not skip this weeks theme altough a little behind time.

Sweet can be used in various forms but after digesting the dictionary, I can safely say it means two main things, a sugar like taste and also a pleasant feeling.

A sweet smile from a sweet child,

Sherman

Ruban

Then, we have sweet food.

Then last but not least fishes with sweetlips,

Many spotted sweetlips

A sweet smile on a sweet Nemo.

Hi, Welcome!

As I try to search something to fit this theme, I came across this first. Though it is not my photoshot, it was kind-of-cute. I know the many cat lovers out there would agree.

I did blog about this picture and its follow-up pictures in an article called A Kitty Test

Well, then next I saw this and this is my own shot! My nephew swepping away under his mom’s shoes, the mess he made with his fetish, tissues.

Well, at last after months of wanting to get a pair of crocs for my use in OT, a friend dropped by my clinic and presented me with a similar footwear. Thanks.

They say one can read a person by the shoes he wears. Also, a retired army officer once told me, that the first impressions are first made by looking at the shoes one wears - I suppose he meant how well the shoes is taken care off! So here comes my favourite type of shoes — rather boots,– the old and the new! I always had a passion for boots and this passion was sealed when two of my consultants I used to work with wore boots.

The Old

The New

Then, to complete my self imposed underwater theme on all photo hunters theme, hmmm…. what would it be…….. a small challenge from jmb….. ta da…

my underwater booties!

Hope you enjoyed this. Thank you!
