To Love and Be Loved

The key word in that beautiful song is that the greatest thing in life is to love and be loved in return. This is true isn’t it? So, true! It would be so sad then if we fail to realise that we are being loved or the person whom we love does not love you in return or does not realise it as such.

A hole in the ….?

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

Many have heard of a hole in the heart but for this 58 year old gentleman, it was a totally different story. He was assisted into ER, wailing in pain with every single movement. It was all too sudden. Even taking a deep breath was difficult as the pain was excruciating. He was sweating, his pulse racing, he could barely speak because the slightest effort caused him intense pain.
The pain occured suddenly, all over the abdomen causing it to be so “board -like” He could barely move. He requested to be propped up to allow him to breath easily. He never had any such pain before but recently was taking some herbal traditional medication for better health! Yeah sure! My medical officer was called up. A few minutes later, my phone rang and the events were so typical, that I waited eagerly hoping my medical officer would make the correct diagnosis. He sounded a little unsure but at the end of the sentence he blurted out the correct diagnosis. I gave my orders and this gentleman was prepared for surgery. So much for a better health! These are some pictures to help you bloggers complete the title of this article!

Grandrounds 3.20

Wow! What an excellent article. Thanks for including me.

More than most other professions, medicine has the ability to devour all it touches. Those who enter the world of medicine as patients soon find it difficult to identify themselves beyond the confines of their label– at least within the walls of the hospital. Those who enter into it as a career soon discover just how far-reaching a life in medicine is. Interests and relationships that once defined us as people too often take a backseat to the demands of medicine. Too easily we find that we lose sight of ourselves. We advise patients to rest, exercise, eat right, deal with stress, develop good coping mechanisms… and then we go home, order out, catch up on paperwork and try to fit in a few moments with our loved ones before catching a few hours of sleep.

From Kuching Trip - Day 1

Three days and 2 nights is actually enough just for Kuching. There are 4 big groups of activities one can do in Kuching which are City tour, Beach holiday - mainly at Damai Beach, Adventure Holiday - mainly at Bako Forrest Reserve and of course the Sarawak Cultural Village. Each of them would take a day to two to complete without rushing.

Kuching Trip - Day 1

Sunday, February 4th, 2007

This year is not only Visit Malaysia Year but my very own Travelling Year. Then again would not it be interesting to travel to as many places every year. January, I went back to my hometown, Alor Setar as a start and stopped over in Sungai Petani and Ipoh.

February, the city in target was Kuching. Apart from visiting these places as a form of stress relief, I also intend to see whether photography for me should be confined to underwater or also add land and above. The trip was a 3 day 2 night trip spent along the banks of Sarawak River at Holiday Inn.

To add to this, I decided to bring my parents along as a gift and also a form of assessment to whether they are fit to travel far, especially after their India trip in December 2006 which caused them deteriorate in health tremendously.
