From Kuching Trip – Day 1
Three days and 2 nights is actually enough just for Kuching. There are 4 big groups of activities one can do in Kuching which are City tour, Beach holiday – mainly at Damai Beach, Adventure Holiday – mainly at Bako Forrest Reserve and of course the Sarawak Cultural Village. Each of them would take a day to two to complete without rushing.
First as usual is a City Tour. This actually involves going quite out of city and would generally take you one full day! Of course, if you intend to go to every single thing then it would require 2 days. We hired a cab to take us around. Our first stop was at a Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center, mimicking the famous Sepilok Centre in Sandakan, Sabah. The entry was priced at RM3.00 and the trek is about 200 metres deep into the jungle where an officer would call out the names of their 23 inhabitants left wild to roam in the deep, thick forest. Well, we did not see any – reason – fruiting season so they do not depend on the center for food.
Then, disappointed, it was a drive to Jong’s Crocodile Farm. A delapidated area and poorly maintained still had some interesting attractions apart from crocodiles – giant arapaima fishes, iguanas and chameleons, variety of birds and sun bear.
For my floral pictures,
From here, we proceeded to some pottery shops and lunch. Beautiful potteries are sold here – so for those with houses should get them here – far cheaper than getting the same thing in Semenanjung. There was a shop selling bonsai plants – another hobby for me to pick up. Let me get the photography hobby off the ground first.
With this we headed back to the city. And what is Kuching without their musuems. Goodness, they have all kinds of musuem but the most interesting ones are the Entomology Musuem and the Cat Musuem – yep! a musuem dedicated to cats and everything and anything that has got something to do with cats!Amazing but sorry no pictures available. Then, we saw the biggest cat in town inviting her guest to Kuching. We also visited a new park called Taman Sahabat, a large park designed and built by China as a sign of friendship between China and Sarawak(Malaysia).

That night we walked around the town for dinner and I came across many (3 to be exact) shops selling shark fin and birds nest! So rampant! Huh!
