This year is not only Visit Malaysia Year but my very own Travelling Year. Then again would not it be interesting to travel to as many places every year. January, I went back to my hometown, Alor Setar as a start and stopped over in Sungai Petani and Ipoh.

February, the city in target was Kuching. Apart from visiting these places as a form of stress relief, I also intend to see whether photography for me should be confined to underwater or also add land and above. The trip was a 3 day 2 night trip spent along the banks of Sarawak River at Holiday Inn.

To add to this, I decided to bring my parents along as a gift and also a form of assessment to whether they are fit to travel far, especially after their India trip in December 2006 which caused them deteriorate in health tremendously.

The flight was of course Air Asia departing to Kuching around lunch time. Everything went smoothly and whispered a promise of an interesting travel. My parents were happy with the room. At an hour of rest, we decided to take a walk down the riverside. This was my second time in Kuching but the first for my parents. Let the pictures explain themselves. I personally enjoy the riverside as the strong breeze is so rereshing!

Khatulistiwa Cafe, the Bidayuh style architecture, marks the beginning of the riverside walk. Food here cost from RM8 to about RM20 and I do recommend having at least a meal here even if it is tea time.

Jetty stops across the amazing river, at Petra Jaya. These sampan rides are very cheap (RM0.30). It is a must do when visiting Kuching.

The routine scene seen along the mighty Sarawak River.

Fort Magherita built during the Brooke’s era in an attempt to ward off attacks from the river, I suppose.

Designs along the walkways of the riverside depicting the rich history and diversified culture of the many variety of ethnic groups.
